CHG Healthcare, the parent company of CompHealth, Weatherby Healthcare, and Global Medical Staffing, conducted a workforce reduction on Friday, June 5, with public estimates suggesting the changes may have involved nearly 200 employees.
In a social media post acknowledging the layoffs, CEO and President Leslie Snavely said the company had made some “tough restructuring decisions” and noted that the layoffs included professionals in administrative, marketing, finance and accounting, project management, software development, and leadership roles.
CHG Healthcare is among the largest healthcare staffing organizations in the United States. In addition to its physician and advanced practice provider locum tenens staffing brands, the company operates several workforce- and technology-focused businesses serving healthcare organizations, providers, and recruiters.
While CHG has not publicly disclosed the scope of the cuts, estimates referenced in LinkedIn posts have ranged from roughly 150 to nearly 200 positions. Locumpedia is not naming or linking to those who shared information about the layoffs. One post stated that 173 people were let go and 23 were reassigned to other roles. Another described a meeting in which approximately 147 leaders learned their positions had been eliminated. Those figures have not been independently verified.
Public accounts suggest the restructuring included a broad range of functions rather than a single department. Individuals identifying themselves across an array of roles, including project management, software engineering, licensing and credentialing, learning and development, operations, and staffing leadership, shared that they were either leaving the organization or offering support to those navigating the transition.
The announcement comes less than two years after the company disclosed plans to close its travel nursing division, RNnetwork. At the time, CHG said it would increase its focus on locum tenens staffing, allied professional staffing, and healthcare technology services. The closure resulted in additional layoffs, although a number of employees were reassigned to other positions within the organization.
In the days following the announcement, LinkedIn filled with messages offering references, introductions, networking assistance, and other forms of career support. Many reflected on the relationships built during employees’ tenure with the company and highlighted its reputation for a strong internal culture.
Additional details regarding the restructuring have not been released. As more information becomes available, Locumpedia will update this story accordingly.
