Introducing the New Locumpedia: New Tools to Search Locum Tenens Jobs, Score Agencies & Track the Market
By Cory Kleinschmidt
For years, Locumpedia has been where the locum tenens industry looks first: the news, the job board, the directory and the guides you forward to a colleague trying to make sense of any of it. All of that is still here. What changed is the platform underneath it.
We rebuilt Locumpedia from the ground up. It’s still independent, neutral and free, the way it’s been from the start. What’s different is what it can do: it brings together thousands of locum tenens jobs from 140+ competing agencies in one place, reads a search written the way you’d say it out loud and turns the aggregate into market intelligence you can use. Locumpedia is the locum tenens platform. Now it works like one.
Key Takeaways
- Locum tenens jobs from 140+ competing agencies, in one neutral place you can search in plain language.
- An all-new platform with a live agency scorecard, LocumScore, that no agency can pay to move.
- Everything you already used is still here and free, only bigger, with more added all the time.
Where We Started
We started small: a couple of people, a domain and a stubborn belief that a field this big deserved one honest place to see all of it. There were trade shows and agency blogs, but nothing in the middle without a horse in the race, so we set out to build it.
The timing was something nobody could have drawn up. We closed our funding right as COVID arrived, and the five-year plan we’d written weeks earlier ran headlong into a pandemic that rearranged all of healthcare, locum tenens most of all. Five years of work stretched into about seven.
We didn’t waste the wait. Locumpedia became the thing the industry reaches for first, the audience and the dataset behind it grew year over year and the whole time we kept building toward the platform the site runs on now.
Everything You Already Rely On, Only Bigger
Everything you already came here for is still in place. Most of it is bigger than it was.
- The free job board is still free, and always will be, now searchable across every agency we track.
- The agency directory is bigger and redesigned, competing firms side by side on equal footing.
- Our tentpole content still sets the terms of the conversation, led by the newly expanded No-BS Guide to Locum Tenens, rewritten and broadened for physicians and APPs.
- Our exclusive reporting and market intelligence go deeper than anyone else covering this field, because no one else sees the whole market at once.
There’s also reporting and tooling you won’t find anywhere else: Locum Ledger, the monthly read on the tax and regulatory calendar for 1099 clinicians; Locum Field Notes, a curated roundup of real clinician stories from across the industry; the Locumology specialty hubs for a read on your own corner of medicine; a rate calculator for a fast take on locum pay; and a rebuilt events calendar that keeps up with the industry’s conferences on its own.
An All-New Platform, Rebuilt From The Ground Up
All of that runs on a platform we rebuilt from scratch: faster, cleaner and made to scale as the market does. You won’t notice the engineering directly. You’ll feel it in how quickly the site moves and how little it gets in your way.
Locumpedia is the only locum tenens job board where you can search across 140+ agencies in plain language. Tell LocumIQ what you’re after, something like a two-week hospitalist opportunity in Colorado, and it reads the request the way a person would and pulls the matching jobs from across the aggregate. There are no filter trees to fight and no keywords to guess at, just the opportunities that fit. It’s the front door.
All of it sits behind a single login. LocumID is one account that works across every Locumpedia property, so you sign in once and stay known wherever you go.
If You Work Locums
If you’re the one taking the work, the platform is built to get you from an open question to a real shortlist faster.
The search up front is yours. That plain-language search runs across all the agencies we track at once, and you don’t need an account to use it. Describe the opportunity you want and LocumIQ does the sorting.
Save it, and let the work come to you. Save any search or job, turn on an alert, and new opportunities that fit show up without you going back to look for them.
One login carries everything. With LocumID, your saved jobs, your alerts and your credentials follow you across every part of the site, and into whatever we build next.
Answers with nobody selling you. The guides, the specialty hubs and the pay data all come from a platform that doesn’t place clinicians and doesn’t take a cut, so what you read is information, not a pitch in disguise.
If You Run an Agency
If you place clinicians for a living, a good deal of the rebuild points straight at your desk.
Your jobs flow in on their own. Publish a feed and Locumpedia ingests it through a config-driven adapter, so your jobs show up as you post them and drop off as you fill them. There’s no portal to log into and nothing for your team to re-key.
You finally see what’s working. Claim your agency profile, which is free and always will be, and you get a real dashboard: first-party analytics on your own postings, drawn from live activity on the platform instead of guesswork.
Reach further without buying rank. When you want more visibility you can run advertising, always labeled, matched to the specialty a clinician is looking at and kept outside the organic results. Pick a plan when you’re ready, whether that’s Free, Pro or Enterprise at agency sign-up.
A lead channel that comes to you. LocumStat lets a facility send one coverage request that we verify and route to vetted agencies. It’s free to the facility and a warm, inbound lead for the agencies that staff that work.
A scorecard built in the open. LocumScore rates every agency from 0 to 100 on footprint, tenure and public recognition, using one published formula and only the facts we can show you on the same page. No agency can pay to raise it. If something looks wrong, you can ask us to correct it. You can also line up two or three agencies side by side and compare their footprints on the facts, with no ranking and no thumb on the scale.
Neutrality, Built Into The Code
None of that bends. Neutrality is the oldest thing about Locumpedia, and the rebuild turns it from a promise into something you can check. Ranking and guidance aren’t for sale here at any price.
A test in our own codebase fails the build if a paid flag ever changes where a result lands, so no agency can spend its way up the page.
That’s also the reason LocumScore can exist. We’re the only participant that sees every agency and has nothing riding on which one wins, so we can publish an honest scorecard and stand behind it. Locumpedia is US-only, privacy-compliant and carries no clinical data.
Where We’re Headed
We built the foundation with room to grow, and we keep building on it: deeper market data and open reporting on where the field is heading, plus more pay transparency and better ways for agencies to reach the clinicians who want to hear from them. The platform you see now is a floor, not a ceiling.
Thank You
None of this happened in a vacuum. We owe it to the clinicians who read us and tell us when we’ve gotten something wrong, to the agencies that hand us their jobs and their reputations and to the people who backed this early, watched a pandemic move the finish line and stuck around anyway. We didn’t get here alone.
The thing we set out to build is finally real, and we’re only getting started. Take a look around: start a search, or claim your agency profile.
