Posted by Interim Physicians
A facility in South Carolina needs a nocturnist for locum tenens coverage in seven-night blocks that run Monday through Sunday. Each physician on the night team averages 4 to 6 admissions a night.
About the Assignment
- Shifts: You'll work 12-hour nights, and you'll need to be available for at least one full seven-night block.
- Night team: One nocturnist covers the ICU and another covers the floors, and on the busiest weeknights a swing-shift physician helps with admissions for the first few hours of the night.
- Care model: ICU physicians handle intubations, and the facility wants a nocturnist who is comfortable in emergencies.
- Requirements: You'll need a South Carolina license, ACLS, and BLS. Your recruiter can walk you through the board certification and other credentials the facility lists.
Location and Lifestyle
South Carolina runs from mountains in the northwest to beaches and marshland along the Atlantic coast. On your days off, you can camp or paddle at one of South Carolina's state parks.
About Interim Physicians
Ken Teufel, MD, founded the company that became Interim Physicians in 1979, a year after selling a solo family practice in small-town Texas to cover for physicians who couldn't get away. Dr. Teufel served as medical director for 42 years and was one of the founding fathers of locum tenens. The standards Dr. Teufel set still decide which physicians Interim presents to a facility.
Interim staff members average 14 years with the company, so the recruiter who places a physician is the same one who calls about the next assignment. Clinicians and facility clients have rated Interim 9 or 10 out of 10 often enough to earn ClearlyRated's Best of Staffing Diamond award.
