SIA’s 2026 Largest Locum Staffing Firms’ Rankings
By Cory Kleinschmidt
Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) released this year’s Largest Locum Tenens Staffing Firms in the US list as part of its annual report.
The global research and advisory company’s “Largest Healthcare Staffing Firms in the United States: 2026 Update” includes 91 companies that generated $33 billion in US healthcare staffing revenue in 2025.
Together, those firms represented an estimated 86% of the US healthcare staffing market. The report also provides separate lists for five healthcare staffing segments, including locum tenens. SIA corporate members may access the complete report online.
Locumpedia independently verified the rankings of 14 firms through company announcements and direct confirmations from company representatives. Among the highest-ranked firms we confirmed are Medicus Healthcare Solutions at #3, Aya Healthcare at #5, Barton Associates at #7, Hayes Locums at #8, and Ingenovis Health at #9.

VeloSource and Elite365 also were among nine companies new to SIA’s broader healthcare staffing list this year. Both appear on the 2026 locum tenens list.
A Shift in the Rankings
Among the locum tenens staffing agencies for which we could verify both 2025 and 2026 rankings, several changed positions this year.
Medicus Healthcare Solutions rose from #4 to #3, while Aya Healthcare moved from #7 to #5. MPLT Healthcare advanced one position, from #13 to #12, and Barton Associates moved from #5 to #7. IMN Enterprises remained at #16.
Though the year-over-year movement shows how these firms’ relative positions changed, the rankings alone don’t reveal what drove those shifts.
Companies and Their Brands
Several names on the 2026 list represent organizations that operate locum tenens staffing agencies under individual brands. Ingenovis Health, ranked #9, includes VISTA Staffing Solutions, while IMN Enterprises, ranked #16, is the parent company of ICON Medical Network and Independence Anesthesia Services.
KPG Healthcare, ranked #19, operates KPG Provider Services, and Elite365 Family of Brands, ranked #31, includes Wilderness Medical Staffing, Elite365 Locum Tenens and Perm Placement, and Proxi Dental Staffing.
What the Recognition Means
VeloSource, which came in at #26, was among the firms that confirmed its position directly with Locumpedia. CEO Jeff Schaal discussed the company’s approach to staffing and its inclusion on this year’s list.
“Our commitment since the beginning of our journey as a company has been to provide high quality, customized locum tenens physician staffing to hospitals of every size,” Schaal said. “We are honored to achieve this ranking on SIA’s Largest Locum Tenens Staffing Firms in the US list, and look forward to the growth that this upcoming year will bring to our organization.”
Tandym Group, #35, also verified its position directly with our editorial team. Senior Vice President Jill Bragg pointed to the importance of understanding both sides of a locum tenens placement.
“For nearly 20 years, our Locums team has understood that a successful match has to be the right fit for both the provider and the community they will be serving,” Bragg said. “By taking the time to understand both equally, we create stronger matches that support our clients, our providers, and the patients who rely on them.”
Looking Ahead
SIA expects healthcare staffing to return to modest growth after three consecutive years of decline. In its September 8 article, Senior Healthcare Staffing Analyst Crystal Fullilove said physician shortages could help drive growth for locum tenens firms as health systems use temporary staffing to address coverage gaps.
